Job summary

Allied Universal in Union, SC is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Access Authorization to safeguard youth residents and staff. You will verify credentials, monitor entry points, and respond to security concerns at a government location, while delivering professional customer service.

Qualifications

• Must meet COLA DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least six months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check as required by law.
• Drug screen as required by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents, alarms, prohibited-item concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and responders as required.
• Conduct regular patrols of entry areas, adjacent grounds, and perimeter to identify unauthorized access and policy concerns.
• Prepare accurate daily activity reports, incident documentation, and access-control logs as required.

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and other authorized individuals by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor and control entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, maintain visitor records, and direct individuals according to facility procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, prohibited-item concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; promptly notify appropriate facility personnel and emergency responders as required.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entry areas, adjacent grounds, and perimeter locations to help identify unauthorized access, unusual activity, and facility policy concerns.
• Prepare accurate daily activity reports, incident documentation, and access-control logs in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Must meet COLA DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least six months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
