Qualifications

• Conduct regular patrols of access points, facilities, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity.

Job Description

As a Juvenile Detention Officer - Access Control in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help maintain a secure environment by managing visitor entry, verifying credentials, issuing badges, monitoring access points, and communicating professionally with staff and guests. You will use computer systems to document activity, support security-related procedures, and help deter unauthorized access. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, residents, and/or contractors by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor entrances, exits, visitor reception areas, and access points; verify identification and authorization in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain visitor logs, issue and collect credentials or passes, and communicate access concerns to appropriate site personnel.
• Respond to incidents, unauthorized access attempts, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner while following established reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, facilities, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.

Minimum Requirements:

• Meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
