Financial Disclosure

As a state employee, you may be required to file an annual Financial Disclosure with the State Ethics Commission. If you are required to file, you will be notified by the Judiciary Human Resources Division and must file within 30 days of employment and no later than April 30th of each subsequent calendar year.

Essential Job Functions

The Jury Clerk performs clerical and customer service work while coordinating and preparing jurors for jury selection. This position is responsible for filing, data entry of paperwork, answering questions, and maintaining order within the jury assembly rooms.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Retrieves and sorts incoming mail. Scans and files mail once entered in the Next Generation (Jury+) system. Answers the telephone to respond to juror questions and inquiries regarding jury service. Determines qualification status of jurors according to law, policy and procedures from the Jury Judge or the Jury Commissioner.
  • Escorts jury panels between Mitchell Courthouse, Courthouse East, and War Memorial.
  • Assigns jurors to panels and creates strike sheets and juror profiles for the courtroom.
  • Performs juror payroll tasks, reconciliation, and balance of jury fund work. Reports directly to jury commissioner regarding any discrepancies or errors on paperwork.
  • Registers, greets and/or pays jurors during daily morning registration process. Recites orientation script and other necessary announcements using audio equipment.
  • Monitors cleanliness, safety and organization of the jury assembly rooms. Notifies Management of any pertinent housekeeping or repair requests.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
  • Experience: One (1) year of work experience, preferably in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge Of:
    • Legal terminology and court procedures, policies, and forms.
    • General office practices, procedures, and equipment.
    • Personal computers and software to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skill In:
    • Customer service and handling problems tactfully and patiently.
    • Basic English and arithmetic to include, but not limited to, spelling, punctuation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
    • Typing on a personal computer.
    • Cashier duties/cash handling.
  • Ability To:
    • Learn and apply job-related terminology, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations in order to define problems, collect and record data, appropriately complete forms, determine and document juror qualification status, and prepare and issue appropriate notifications.
    • Communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with jurors, judges, the public, police agencies, and other court officials and personnel, both verbally and in writing.
    • Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copier, microfilm machine, register, scanner, fax machine, etc.
    • Multitask, adjust to situations quickly, set priorities, and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Use A/V Equipment.
Physical Requirements

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
