Job summary

BrightView Landscapes LLC is seeking a Climber I for tree care, including pruning, cabling, bracing, lightning protection, and removals in Bakersfield, CA.

This beginner-level role supports the team in site work; emphasis on safety, PPE use, and following procedures. Candidates must be able to work outdoors, use tools and equipment, and may pursue EHAP/First-Aid/CPR certification; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Demonstration of role specific skills or verifiable requisite experience.
• Able to follow directions and procedures related to roping and rigging, maintenance of equipment, adjustments to equipment, and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to perform mathematical operations using weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to calculate or estimate weight, volume and distance related to arboricultural field operations.
• Communicate using hand signals with climbers to ensure safety and to perform work within acceptable standards.
• Able to become certified in EHAP, First-Aid and CPR

Responsibilities

• Perform basic tree care operations such as pruning and limb removal on the ground and in trees up to 60 feet.
• Access a tree safely according to company protocols and move through canopy to remove branches safely.
• Operate powered equipment such as chippers, trucks, and blowers.
• Use chainsaws safely from ground and canopy locations.
• Use hand tools for tree care tasks and wear PPE as required.
• Maintain safe and organized work zones and prevent damage or injury.
• Follow plans to prevent property damage and injuries during operations.
