Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation seeks a Junior Project Analyst to join the Traffic Engineering & Planning unit. You will review traffic, bus, and pedestrian analyses and assist in data collection and modeling using Synchro, VISSIM, and other tools.

Under supervision you will help prepare reports, participate in meetings, and contribute to improvement measures that reduce congestion and improve safety for all street users. Remote work up to 2 days per week may be available.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience; or
• A bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in civil engineering.
• Knowledge of HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, AutoCAD, AutoTurn, and traffic simulation models.
• Familiarity with HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, CEQR Manual, NYSDOT manuals.
• Excellent writing and oral presentation skills; Valid NYS Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement transportation planning, safety, and engineering projects.
• Review traffic, bus, and pedestrian analyses and assist data collection and modeling.
• Prepare Synchro/SimTraffic models and calibrate to field conditions.
• Assist in environmental studies and reports and participate in technical meetings.
• Work with team to develop improvement measures to reduce congestion and improve safety.
