Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation seeks a Junior Project Analyst to join the Traffic Engineering & Planning unit within TPM. The role involves reviewing traffic, bus and pedestrian analyses, building Synchro/SimTraffic models, and assisting with environmental studies and capital projects.

The ideal candidate holds a civil engineering degree (B.S. or higher) with relevant experience, a valid NYS Driver's License, and the ability to work both in-office and remotely up to two days per week.

Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License required.
  • Applicants must be either permanent in the Assistant Civil Engineer title or have filed for the Assistant Civil Service Exam #7006, with proof of filing.

Responsibilities

  • Review and/or conduct traffic, bus, and pedestrian analyses to inform TPM projects.
  • Prepare and review Synchro/SimTraffic models using pavement markings, signal timing plans, and traffic/pedestrian data; calibrate to field conditions per NYC DOT guidelines.
  • Assist in environmental studies under CEQR/SEQR/NEPA using CEQR Technical Manual procedures and conduct LOS analyses for intersections and pedestrian elements.
  • Prepare written reports and graphic materials for presentations; participate in technical/advisory meetings and coordinate with agency representatives.
