Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in York, PA seeks an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer to develop expertise in highway and traffic engineering under strong mentorship. You will work on projects ranging from local intersections to major interchanges, collaborating with PennDOT, MDOT, DelDOT, VDOT, and private partners across the Mid-Atlantic.

You will gain hands-on experience from day one, with senior engineers providing structured training and ongoing support to help you grow your career

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Candidates actively pursuing their degree are eligible to apply.
• Candidates with other engineering/applied science degrees are eligible to apply.
• Experience with electrical and communication system design is considered an asset.
• 0–4 years of relevant experience; internship or co-op preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively (oral/written).
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing roadway alignments, profiles, and typical sections.
• Prepare construction plans for roadway geometrics and MOT.
• Perform drainage and stormwater design tasks with senior engineers.
• Assist with traffic designs: signals, ITS/TSMO devices, signing and markings.
• Perform traffic analyses using software like HCS, Synchro, Sidra, VISSIM, VISUM.
• Support travel demand modeling with tools like CUBE, TransModeler.
• Provide data/analysis support for safety analyses with HSM tools.
• Contribute to design documentation and client meeting materials.
