Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP seeks an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer for its Transportation Group in York, PA. This role offers a path to specialize in highway or traffic engineering and to gain experience across multiple projects under senior mentorship.

The position emphasizes hands-on training, collaboration with senior engineers, and opportunities to work on local and larger-scale projects for PennDOT, MDOT, DelDOT, VDOT, and private partners across the Mid-Atlantic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Candidates actively pursuing their degree are eligible to apply.
• Experience with electrical and communication system design is a plus.
• 0-4 years of relevant experience; internship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist development of roadway alignments, profiles, and typical sections.
• Prepare construction plans for roadway geometrics, MOT, erosion control.
• Perform drainage and stormwater design with senior engineers.
• Support traffic engineering tasks: signals, ITS/TSMO devices, signing, markings, lighting.
• Use design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD) to create plans and 3D models.
• Contribute to technical reports, studies, and design documentation.
• Prepare materials for client meetings and agency submissions.
