Job summary

AECOM seeks Entry Level Transportation Engineers to be based in Chicago, Illinois, with a May 2027 start. You will develop analytic and design skills, assisting in civil engineering design under an experienced engineer. This is a hybrid role in a major infrastructure environment.

You will contribute to a variety of highway design tasks, data analysis, and documentation, with opportunities for early professional growth in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or FE registration within 6 months is preferred.
• Experience in Civil Engineering design is preferred.
• Desirable: highway design elements such as alignments, roadside design, pavement, traffic control, etc.
• Familiarity with MicroStation is desirable; Geopak a plus.

Responsibilities

• Builds analytic and design skills under supervision.
• Performs engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and final drawings under supervision.
• Follows internal quality control processes.
• Collects and analyzes data under supervision.
• Uses computer software to solve basic engineering problems.
• Performs tasks within budget and schedule under supervision.
