Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in New Albany, OH seeks an operator to support the Monitoring Analysis Response Center by making data-driven decisions on asset health alarms and coordinating with SCC and dispatch centers. The role involves monitoring alarms, ensuring real-time compliance, and directing switching operations during emergencies.

You will maintain event logs, monitor SCADA and weather systems, and support real-time transmission system operations across voltage levels on a rotating shift

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field
• High School and 2 years of experience operating a power system
• Must pass System Operator/Power Dispatching (SO/PD) test to qualify

Responsibilities

• Assist Monitoring Analysis Response Center with data-driven next-step decisions around Asset Health Alarm.
• Monitor System Health alarms and provide guidance to downstream stakeholders.
• Monitor real-time compliance for PRC002, PRC004, and TPL007.
• Monitor fire monitoring applications and support stakeholders on next steps.
• Assist in real-time operation of the transmission system with AEP SCC and neighboring utilities.
• Prepare basic switching orders for removal of equipment from service for maintenance.
• Direct switching operations under emergency conditions.
• Maintain log of events and transactions for facilities and equipment.
• Observe SCADA system operation and report malfunctions.
• Monitor weather information and notify relevant personnel.
