Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is seeking an Entry-level Dispatcher Worker to support monitoring and control of the transmission system. You will coordinate with the AEP System Control Center and neighboring utilities, prepare switching orders, and help restore service during outages.

The role requires a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience and a driver's license. Shift work includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or high school diploma with 2 years of power system experience.
Ability to work under pressure during critical system conditions and to manage multiple situations simultaneously.
Must have a valid state driver license and be able to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist in monitoring and regulating system voltage levels and real/reactive power flows.
Assist in real-time operation of the transmission system in coordination with the AEP SCC and neighboring utilities.
Assist in real-time operation of distribution equipment inside the station fence.
Prepare basic switching orders and safety tagging for equipment removal from service for maintenance or construction.
Assist in directing switching operations under emergency conditions and restore service promptly.
