Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Transmission Line Engineer for its Lakewood, Colorado office to support the design of high voltage overhead transmission lines. You will work under senior engineers in the Power & Energy group, contributing to project execution, field coordination, and technical development.

This role targets recent graduates with a strong interest in electric utility infrastructure and a foundation in structural/mechanical/civil engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering or related field.
• 0 to 1 year post-education experience.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts and relevant codes/regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, team collaboration, and self-leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist with PLSCADD modeling for line layout, spotting, and structure analysis.
• Prepare design calculations for structures, foundations, conductors, and components.
• Support plan & profile drawings, loading trees, material lists, and construction packages.
• Evaluate route constraints, design criteria, clearances, terrain, and reliability requirements.
• Support QA/QC for drawings and calculations.
• Prepare engineering reports and cost estimates; engage in design reviews.
