Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Wallingford, CT seeks an Assistant Civil/Transmission Engineer to support licensed engineers on projects from concept through design completion for high voltage transmission lines. You will collaborate with the project team through design and construction, adapting line plans to meet budget and client needs, and assist with CAD drawings, field inspections, and client presentations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; ABET accreditation preferred.
Prior internship/consulting experience encouraged.
Basic civil/structural engineering principles and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in problem-solving.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

Assists in transmission line design from concept through design completion.
Reviews production drawings for high voltage lines (69-500kV).
Contributes to plan/profile drawings, structure/load diagrams, and foundation drawings.
Applies standard engineering concepts within civil/structural fields.
Assists with data collection, studies, and reports.
Corrects and updates CAD drawings under supervision.
