Job summary

Eaton in Laconia, NH seeks a Junior Thermal Research Engineer to support design, modeling, and experimental validation of advanced thermal management systems for high-performance electronics cooling in data centers, semiconductors, and aerospace applications.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team on thermal system design, two-phase cooling, and heat exchanger architectures, using tools like ANSYS, Python/MATLAB, and SolidWorks, plus DOE and instrumentation for validation.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Focus or coursework in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, or thermal systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of thermal management systems (liquid cooling, two-phase cooling, heat exchangers).
• Develop and apply thermal-fluid modeling tools for system-level performance prediction (pressure drop, heat transfer, coolant distribution).
• Implement and use machine learning, AI, and data-driven methods for design optimization.
• Conduct DOE and support experimental testing with instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Create CAD models and engineering documentation (SolidWorks, P&IDs, drawings, test plans).
• Assist in development of computational tools and simulation frameworks (Python, MATLAB).
• Support prototype development and testbed construction, integrating thermal systems and measurement capabilities.
