Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an entry‑level engineer to join the Intelligent Combat Systems Group. You will help plan, execute, and analyze experiments, and support development of C4ISR system architectures for government sponsors.

The role requires systems thinking, strong communication, and collaboration across Test & Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and C4ISR teams. An active Secret clearance by start and eligibility for TS/SCI is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering or computer science).
  • At least 1 year of experience in Test & Evaluation and Systems Engineering.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to reason about complex systems.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication across teams.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks.
  • Active Secret security clearance by start date (ability to obtain TS/SCI). Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Test & E. Evaluation / Event Support: assist with planning, execution, and reviews of tests and demonstrations (including classified/high-side events).
  • Data Reduction, Analysis, and Reporting: perform data cleaning, organization, and basic processing; assist in reports and briefings.
  • Systems Engineering / C4ISR Architecting: support architecture development, interfaces, data flows, and MBSE approaches.
  • Coordination, Governance, and Stakeholder Engagement: support cross-team governance, scheduling, status tracking, and documentation control.
