Job summary

STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION is seeking a Structures Design Engineer I in the Structures Design Office in Tallahassee. Duties include performing design tasks for bridge projects, publishing manuals and bulletins, and contributing to policy development.

The ideal candidate will hold a Florida PE license and be proficient with FDOT standards, AASHTO guidelines, and CAD tools. Emphasis on coordination, QA, and collaboration within OneFDOT.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FDOT/ AASHTO specs and structural design methods.
• Familiarity with FDOT Standards Manuals and Bridge Design Docs.
• Ability to interpret complex structural plans and drawings.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in FL per Statute 471.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and publishing the Structures Manual and Bulletins.
• Perform design tasks for in-house bridge projects and studies.
• Assist with development of design policies, specs, and revisions.
• Contribute to research project reviews and results implementations.
• Support QA reviews across districts.
