Apex Structural Engineering, Inc. in St. Louis, MO is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer I to develop essential structural engineering skills. You will work under experienced engineers on calculations, design, documentation, and construction administration to support project delivery.

This role targets recent graduates early in their careers, with mentorship, exposure to design standards, and a hybrid-friendly environment that emphasizes growth and practical judgment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering is a plus.
• Typically 0-2 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Basic knowledge of structural analysis and fundamental structural engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of how structural components interact within the system.
• Perform entry-level calculations and design for components under mentor guidance.
• Determine gravity, wind, seismic, snow, rain, and other loads using ASCE 7.
• Calculate tributary areas and load paths for components and systems.
• Apply loads to design software and derive forces for components.
• Assist with development of structural drawings and details.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, and construction-phase docs under guidance.
• Participate in internal meetings to understand requirements and tasks.
• Learn and apply building codes, standards, and Apex procedures.
• Incorporate mentor feedback into calculations and documents.
