Apex Structural Engineering, Inc. is hiring an entry-level Project Engineer I to support calculations, design, and documentation under mentoring engineers in a growing team. Recent grads learn to apply loads, run analyses, and develop drawings while following Apex standards and QA/QC procedures.

You will gain hands-on experience with design software and construction documents, collaborating in a team that emphasizes mentorship and practical judgment development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is a plus.
• Typically 0–2 years of relevant structural engineering experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Basic knowledge of structural analysis, design principles, and engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to apply engineering fundamentals, mathematics, and problem-solving to structural calculations.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn software and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level structural engineering calculations and design for components under guidance.
• Determine gravity, wind, seismic, snow, rain loads using ASCE 7 and criteria.
• Calculate tributary areas, loads, load paths, and reactions for components.
• Apply loads to design software and create supporting calculations.
• Develop basic structural analysis models for simple systems.
• Prepare structural calculations and documentation for tasks.
• Assist with development of drawings and details and communicate requirements to the team.
• Aid with shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and construction-phase docs under supervision.
• Participate in internal project meetings and learn Apex processes and standards.
• Review and incorporate mentor feedback to calculations and designs.
• Learn building codes, standards, and QA/QC practices and use Tekla, Revit, RAM tools.
