Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Premium Staff Accountant to join our team in Tampa, FL. The role supports the Team Leader/Senior in executing all premium accounting transactions, reconciling insurance premium payments, broker commissions, taxes, and refunds to ensure accurate financial reporting and cash flow.

You will maintain A/R, resolve billing issues with agents and brokers, and assist with month-end close.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 1–3 years related experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize a diverse portfolio of tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels within an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Agency Management systems is preferred.
  • Insurance background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile premiums payments, broker commission, state taxes, and credit refunds.
  • Apply payments accurately to customer or broker accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable (A/R), including suspense accounts and aging reports.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers, and internal teams to resolve premium differences or billing issues.
  • Ensure transactions follow company policies, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines; assist with month-end close.
  • Research and correct misapplied premiums, payment variances, and billing errors.
  • Utilize Excel and financial systems to analyze data and support reconciliation and reporting activities.
  • Perform required general ledger account maintenance.
  • Maintain clear records, process documentation, and workflow updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Brown & Brown is seeking Premium Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Tampa, FL!

The Premium Staff Accountant role is responsible for supporting the Team Leader/Senior in execution of all transactions related to Premium Accounting within NP East. The role will be responsible for managing and reconciling insurance premium transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth cash flow. This role serves as the link between policy administration, billing, and finance teams. The role will be required to research inquiries and meet processing deadlines with accuracy and timeliness.

How You Will Contribute:

Skills & Experience to be Successful:
