Job summary

Aegis Aerospace, Inc. in Webster, Texas, is seeking an early-career Junior Software Engineer to join the Space Flight Systems team.

You will design, develop, and maintain embedded flight software and supporting ground applications for MISSE-FF, TAMU-SPIRIT, and SSTEF projects, under guidance from experienced engineers. This role offers hands-on experience with embedded Linux, custom hardware interfaces, testing, and flight operations, with opportunities to contribute across the full software

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Up to 3 years of software engineering experience encouraged to apply.
• Experience with C++ and Python in real-time environments.
• Familiarity with Linux and embedded software development.
• Knowledge of version control, testing, and basic software workflows.
• Ability to learn new systems and work with cross-disciplinary teams.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for spaceflight equipment and supporting ground systems.
• Develop embedded Linux applications for custom boards and avionics.
• Support ground applications used to command, control, and monitor hardware and experiments.
• Assist with user interfaces, network communications, and automated testing.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on hardware interfaces and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to payload development reviews and documentation.
