Job summary

Leidos in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a Junior Software Test Engineer to join our Agile software teams supporting the Air Vehicle Planning System mission. You will perform manual testing, verify and validate new and updated software, and collaborate with engineers to improve product quality.

Candidates should have a STEM degree or 4+ years of related experience, familiarity with test procedures, and experience with Git/Jira/Confluence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
Experience with writing and/or developing test procedures.
Knowledge of delivering an entire piece of a system or application.
Knowledge of software design patterns.
Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.
Experience with a version control system (Git).
Experience with an issue/problem tracking system (Jira).
Experience with multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, LINUX, etc.).
Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint); team player who can explain ideas.

Responsibilities

Testing all product aspects within the software development lifecycle through software delivery.
Create/run manual testing procedures to evaluate software performance.
Work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
Communicate software deficiencies and make improvement recommendations.
Adhere to Agile processes and software testing best practices/standards.
Use Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with teams.
Support creation and updating of all relevant test documentation and specifications for the application.
Identify potential testing roadblocks and collaborate with the team to resolve.
Plan and estimate testing tasks and work to improve process performance metrics.
Coordinate with automated testing engineers to bridge test coverage gaps and improve CI.
Attend meetings with the software development team, program management and user community.
Support metrics program by creating, collecting and tracking test related metrics.
