Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Cyber Defense Security Operations Analyst to monitor, detect, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents as part of the SOC. You will analyze events, conduct threat hunting, and document investigations while collaborating with internal teams to strengthen security posture.

Responsibilities include security monitoring, incident response, and thorough documentation/reporting. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, attack vectors and defense strategies.
• Proficient knowledge of the Incident Response lifecycle.
• Proficient knowledge of the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security events using SIEM and other event monitoring tools.
• Respond to SIEM alerts timely and efficiently.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of security logs and alerts to identify security incidents.
• Perform OSINT and stay informed about emerging threats, TTPs, and IOCs
• Respond to escalations timely and efficiently.
• Monitor and respond to incoming queries via phone, email, and tickets.
• Conduct E-Discovery
• Leverage threat intelligence to conduct threat hunts.
• Identify, analyze, and contain cyber threats.
• Execute incident response procedures independently.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Document security event response and actions taken.
• Prepare reports and summaries on emerging threats, incidents, and investigations.
• Document and track incident timelines.
• Prepare threat hunting and IOC/APT tracking reports.
• Develop and maintain playbook, runbooks, SOPs.
• Communicate escalations effectively to mid-tier and senior analysts.
• Collaborate with other cyber security team members and I.S. staff to resolve security incidents.
