Job summary

Holyoke Public Schools Sullivan Middle in Holyoke, MA is seeking a Junior Custodian for a full-time position. Starting date is immediate and the hourly salary ranges from $17.00 to $19.25.

The role involves maintaining and securing school facilities, performing routine cleaning and maintenance, and supporting the safety of students and staff. The successful candidate will assist with building and grounds upkeep, operate cleaning equipment, manage supplies, and perform a variety of related duties

Qualifications

• High School/Trade School Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Opens and secures buildings; inspects buildings and grounds for safety, security, cleanliness and fire hazard.
• Observes energy conservation measures.
• Determines and reports the need for maintenance and/or repair of machinery, equipment, and/or building and grounds.
• Maintains, adjusts, and performs standard maintenance on HVAC equipment.
• Cleans and/or lubricates tools and equipment.
• Operates and uses hand tools and cleaning equipment such as floor polishers and vacuums.
• Assists with inventory and supplies, including procurement and storage.
• Tests and evaluates the performance of custodial products and services.
• Performs building tasks: cleaning floors, walls, windows, and furniture; dusts pipes and brass.
• Performs grounds tasks: snow/ice management and perimeter inspection.
• Sets up furniture and equipment for classrooms, meetings, and conferences.
• Replaces light bulbs and replenishes supplies in restrooms.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the building principal.

Education
