Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for the second shift to maintain cleanliness and safety of school facilities. You will work under the Senior Custodian and ensure daily upkeep across classrooms, halls, and grounds.

The role requires availability for overtime and event prep, a valid MA ID, reliable transportation, and residency in the City of Springfield. Starting immediately with competitive hourly wages listed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the Principal, school staff and public.
• Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relations skills.
• Able to use a computer.
• Demonstrates reliable work habits.
• Must be City of Springfield resident.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular cleaning and upkeep of the school building and grounds.
• Assist in supervising custodial staff in the absence of a Senior Custodian.
• Be available for overtime, call-backs, and inspections.
• Clean floors, walls, windows, toilets, and furniture; strip, wax, and buff floors.
• Provide assistance to ensure safe and effective building operations.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and prepare building for events.
