Job summary

CACI is seeking a Junior Cyber Software Engineer to design, develop, and secure next-generation tactical cyber infrastructure. You will apply Rust and memory-safe languages to build secure software across embedded architectures and tactical networks.

Responsibilities include secure software development, vulnerability mitigation, system integration, testing, and documentation per DoD standards. A DoD Secret clearance and up to 10% travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
• 1-3 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent military/co-op experience.
• Strong understanding of Rust fundamentals (safe/unsafe, ownership/borrowing, concurrency).
• Hands-on experience or working familiarity with C, C++, or Go.
• Proficiency with Linux environments, shell scripting, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop clean, safe, and efficient code primarily in Rust, with modules in C/C++/Go as needed.
• Redesign and harden legacy software to mitigate memory-corruption exploits.
• Support integration of software with hardware, data networks, and tactical systems.
• Review, debug, and test software using automated pipelines to meet requirements.
• Contribute to requirements, architecture, and documentation aligned with DoD standards.
