Job summary

Prime Inc is seeking a Junior Developer to join our team and grow into an RPGLE programmer on IBM i (AS400). No prior RPG experience is required, but candidates with Java, Python, or C# experience are encouraged to apply.

Mentorship will help you transition your programming skills into RPGLE. You will learn RPGLE (including free-format RPG), work with CL, DDS, and SQL on IBM i, and collaborate with other developers to translate requirements into working solutions.

Qualifications

• 1+ year coding experience or completion of relevant coursework.
• Willingness to learn RPGLE and IBM i environment.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply RPGLE to maintain and enhance business applications on IBM i (AS400).
• Write, test, and document code under guidance of senior developers.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving application issues reported by end users.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards.
• Work with SQL/DB2 for i to query and update data.
• Collaborate with other developers to translate requirements into working solutions.
• Continue building proficiency in RPGLE and IBM i tools through hands-on work and training.
