Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an entry to mid-level Civil Engineer focused on roadway design and transportation projects in the Northeast. You will assist with alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control while using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation to produce drawings and documents.

You will support senior engineers, perform field data collection, and help coordinate with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients. Knowledge of AASHTO/MUTCD standards is expected; FE/EIT credentials are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• FE exam passed and EIT certification, or planning to by June 2027.
• Strong interest in roadway and transportation design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Basic knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, or state DOT standards.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative in a team environment.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
• Preferred: Corridor modeling experience in Civil 3D.
• Preferred: Exposure to fieldwork, inspections, or data collection.
• Preferred: Understanding of Design-Bid-Build or Design-Build delivery.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of roadway infrastructure including alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control.
• Prepare engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support senior engineers in meeting project goals and ensuring compliance with standards.
• Assist with drainage modeling, traffic control planning, and design documentation.
• Perform site visits to collect field data and support construction activities.
• Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation) to prepare and revise design plans.
• Help review contractor submittals and RFIs, and support construction administration tasks.
• Coordinate with internal teams, municipalities, and regulatory agencies during design and permitting.
• Deliver infrastructure projects across the Northeast in collaboration with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients.
