Job summary

Howden Re is seeking a Junior Contract Drafter to create and maintain reinsurance contract documentation, applying your knowledge of insurance concepts to assist broker teams on a variety of projects.

Under moderate supervision, you will draft reinsurance contracts and related documents, interpret terms, perform quality assurance to reflect negotiations, provide guidance on language, support RFPs and client meetings, and help strengthen relationships with brokers and reinsurers.

Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent experience.
• J.D. helpful but not required.
• 0–2 years of experience with reinsurance contracts.
• Extensive MS Word experience and expertise.
• Experience with Adobe and Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Draft reinsurance contracts, interests and liabilities agreements and related documents.
• Interpret contracts and perform QA to ensure wording reflects negotiations.
• Provide guidance on reinsurance concepts and contract language.
• Participate in RFPs and sales presentations by recommending coverage & wording enhancements.
• Promote and maintain relationships with brokers, clients and reinsurers.
• Attend department meetings and share ideas to maintain best practices.
