Job summary

Dewberry in Bloomfield, NJ seeks an entry-level Structural (Rail Bridge) Engineer/Inspector to join the Transit and Freight Rail Practice. You will contribute to design and inspection of steel and concrete bridges, and related structures, while supporting plans, estimates, and specs.

You'll gain exposure to marketing activities, travel locally, and grow with a nationwide team applying advanced technology to solve infrastructure challenges.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required; MS/MEng preferred.
• 0–4 years in structural, rail or civil engineering.
• FE exam completed preferred.
• Prior internship or summer work preferred.
• AREMA familiarity preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals.
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of field work including heights and adverse conditions.
• Willing to travel locally and regionally.
• Team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers on transit and freight rail projects.
• Perform structural analysis, design, load ratings, and construction support.
• Prepare structural plans, cost estimates, and engineer's estimates.
• Assist field investigations under qualified inspectors.
