Job summary

Colliers seeks a Junior Property Accountant to support financial operations of a commercial real estate portfolio in Richmond, VA. This onsite role involves preparing financial statements, processing payables/receivables, and maintaining GL accounts in line with company policies.

You'll work with Property Managers, tenants, and vendors to address inquiries, ensure accuracy, and support month-end close activities, bringing attention to detail and teamwork to a dynamic real estate team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of progressive property accounting experience in commercial real estate.
• Proficiency with Yardi, AvidXchange, or similar property management and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties.
• Process accounts payable and receivable related to property operations.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and supporting month-end close activities.
• Review invoice coding, approvals, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to posting.
• Partner with Property Managers, tenants, and vendors to address accounting inquiries and resolve financial issues.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
• Communicate with property managers, tenants, and vendors regarding financial matters.

Approximate Compensation Rate for this Role $21.83 to $22.50/hr
