Job summary

Atrium Staffing LLC is seeking a Junior Project Estimator for a general contracting firm in Morristown, NJ. This entry-level role provides mentorship to develop construction estimating skills for commercial interior fit-out projects.

Recent architecture or engineering grads are encouraged. Responsibilities include budgets, take-offs, and evaluating bids with a focus on accurate pricing and project scope alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field or 3+ years in estimating.
• Experience with commercial/industrial fit-out projects is preferred.
• Ability to read architectural, MEP, civil and structural drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budgets and detailed proposals for commercial interior fit-out projects.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to determine project scope and pricing.
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop pricing using internal data and subcontractor quotations.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

Our client is a general contracting firm specializing in interior fit-out projects across a variety of industries, including industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, corporate office, and retail environments. Their primary markets include New Jersey, with additional project experience throughout Massachusetts, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and New York. Our client is seeking a Junior Project Estimator to join their growing team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$50k - $70k

Position Overview:

The Junior Project Estimator is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals looking to build a career in construction estimating. The successful candidate will be paired with an experienced mentor dedicated to training and professional development. Recent college graduates in architecture or engineering are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of the Junior Project Estimator:

• Prepare budgets and detailed proposals for commercial interior fit-out projects.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to determine project scope and pricing strategy.
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop pricing using internal data and subcontractor quotations.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids, ensuring alignment with project requirements and scope.

Required Experience/Skills for the Junior Project Estimator:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a construction-related discipline, or a minimum of three years of estimating experience in a general contractor or subcontracting environment.
• Proven experience with commercial and industrial fit-out projects.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, MEP, civil, and structural drawings.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Junior Project Estimator:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with estimating software is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines.
