Job summary

Hanwha Q CELLS America Inc. in Irvine, CA seeks an Associate Project Engineer to support development of solar PV and energy storage projects nationwide.

This on-site role offers exposure to project origination, engineering deliverables, and cross-functional collaboration within HQCA’s project teams. The role involves technical due diligence, layout conceptualization, energy modeling with PVsyst/Helioscope, and coordination with developers, EPC partners, utilities, and investors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or energy engineering.
• Experience in solar or ESS project engineering (internships or entry-level acceptable).
• Ability to review engineering and technical matters with a commercial perspective.
• Familiarity with ground-mount and battery storage projects in distributed generation.
• Comfortable working with EPC partners, developers, consultants, and O&M contractors.
• Experience with permitting processes with local authorities and utilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, HelioScope, PVsyst, and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with technical due diligence to support origination and development.
• Help prepare conceptual layouts and electrical single-line diagrams.
• Support energy modeling and energy estimates using PVsyst and Helioscope.
• Assist in updating system engineering to optimize financial outcomes.
• Participate in technology reviews for PV or ESS equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to stakeholders including investors and EPC partners.
• Visit project sites to collect key technical information.
• Contribute to engineering deliverables such as feasibility studies and interconnection applications.
• Support sourcing and management of external consultants and vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
