Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an entry-level Associate Project Designer to join the Electric Distribution Design team on a hybrid work schedule. The role involves structured training and hands-on project management for 25–75 projects from inception to release, covering new construction, replacement, and relocation of distribution facilities.

You will communicate with internal and external stakeholders, adhere to codes, and act as the project’s point of contact.

Qualifications

• Associate Project Designer: 0-2 years of directly related experience.
• Basic knowledge of electric distribution design, electricity, company policies and procedures, and personal computer skills.
• Skills: verbal, written and interpersonal communication; ability to learn concepts and technical tools and programs; time management and organization; project management; math and technical aptitude.
• Abilities: Effectively interact with customers and team members; detail oriented.
• Physical attributes to perform essential function: prolonged walking with varying terrain, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing and sitting.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from inception to project release applying engineering principles and estimating timelines and costs.
• Communicate policies, procedures, and project status to stakeholders.
• Inspect sites and designate facility placement based on safety and operational needs.
• Prepare underground agreements, permits, and revenue calculations to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate installation/relocation of utilities and assist in storm restoration as needed.
