Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team in a hybrid role. The position supports planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and project performance for projects of basic complexity. You will work with project managers and teams to ensure schedule integrity and cost control.

The ideal candidate has basic PM knowledge, strong communication skills, and familiarity with Primavera P6 and EcoSys. Travel up to 10% may be required; U.S.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract requirements and/or eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance.
• Entry level knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people, and process a variety of requests as necessary.
• Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel; organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Supports compliance with internal procedures and federal regulations as applicable to project controls.
• Under supervision, develops, maintains, and analyzes schedules for routine projects.
• Generates and analyzes earned value reports and communicates cost status to project manager.
• Performs basic financial analysis and prepares routine status reports.
• Uses document management protocols to store and retrieve project documentation.
