Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team. The role supports planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and project performance to help projects succeed.

The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of project management methods, basic cost forecasting, and experience with tools like Primavera and EcoSys. This is a hybrid in-office/remote position with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Entry level knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people, and process a variety of requests as necessary.
• Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel; organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Gathers project progress information and supports compliance with internal procedures.
• Develops, maintains, and analyzes cost and resource forecasts; validates costs.
• Monitors deliverables and performs routine financial analyses to assess progress.
• Uses document management protocols to store and retrieve project documentation.
• Performs other duties as required.
