Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team in Orlando. This role supports planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and project performance, working closely with project managers and teams to provide visibility and insight for informed decisions.

The ideal candidate shows basic project management knowledge, strong communication, and teamwork. Travel up to 10% may be required; Primavera P6 and EcoSys experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Entry level knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people, and process a variety of requests as necessary.
• Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel; organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Supports compliance with internal procedures and government regulations.
• Gathers project progress information to update and monitor basic complexity projects.
• Develops time-phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs.
• Measures progress and reports performance using earned value management.
• Documents and assesses the impact of project changes on cost/schedule baselines.
• Under supervision, maintains schedules and analyzes project milestones for routine projects.
• Performs routine financial analyses and prepares financial reports.
