Job summary

Wanzl NA in Wilmington, North Carolina is seeking an entry-level Product Development Engineer I to join the New Product Development team. You will contribute to design, development, testing, release, and continuous improvement of shopping solutions under guidance.

Collaborate across product management, sales, marketing, operations, supply chain, and quality to deliver cost-effective, manufacturable designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field from an accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of experience in product development, mechanical design, manufacturing, or engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Familiarity with PDM systems and design-data management basics.
• Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and specs.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned design and engineering deliverables from concept through production release and improvement.
• Maintain product data, drawings, BOMs, and documentation in CAD/PDM systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and support targets.
• Own defined tasks and small changes while supporting broader NPD projects.
• Support analyses, testing, benchmarking, and cost-reduction efforts.
• Plan and execute validation tests; document results and make data-driven recommendations.
• Design, build, and refine prototypes, fixtures, and validation assemblies.
• Assist with ETO and standard projects, including requirements and release milestones.
• Create assembly procedures and technical specifications for production support.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers to evaluate materials and processes.
• Support product compliance and maintain test records with Quality.
• Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to stakeholders.
• Incorporate feedback and field data into product improvements.
• Consider sustainability in design, including material selection and recyclability.
