Job summary

Wanzl North America (WNA) is seeking an entry-level Product Development Engineer I in Newton, NC. You will support the design, testing, and release of Retail, Digital, Access, and Material Handling products under senior team guidance.

You will collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Quality to deliver cost-effective, manufacturable solutions that meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years in product development, mechanical design, or engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Familiarity with PDM systems and design data management.
• Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Knowledge of DFMA and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; cross-functional collaboration.
• Willing to travel up to 20%, including international travel.

Responsibilities

• Complete engineering deliverables from concept through production release.
• Maintain product data, specifications, revision records, and technical files.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet requirements and targets.
• Own defined tasks and support broader NPD projects through gate reviews.
• Support analyses, benchmarking, value engineering, and evaluations.
• Plan and execute validation tests and document results.
• Design and refine prototypes, fixtures, and validation assemblies.
• Support compliance and maintain test records with QA teams.
• Communicate status, risks, and milestones to project stakeholders.
• Incorporate customer feedback and field data into improvements.
• Consider sustainability in design choices and materials.
