The Salvation Army seeks a Junior Probate Paralegal to provide administrative and paralegal support across estate and trust files, from intake to closure. The role emphasizes confidentiality, organization, and accurate documentation.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and e-filing, with familiarity in estate/trust administration and a paralegal certification preferred. Travel may be required.
This position is responsible for:
Reporting to the In-House Advisor for Estate, Trust and Probate, this role provides administrative and paralegal support throughout the lifecycle of assigned estate and trust files, from intake and document review through ongoing monitoring, annual file reviews, correspondence, and closure activities.
The Junior Probate Paralegal will organize and maintain confidential legacy files and department databases; assist with reviewing legal documents to identify The Salvation Army's potential interest; prepare routine correspondence, legal requisitions, Board of Trustee materials, workflow steps, and other required documentation; and conduct basic legal research under supervision.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to interpret, analyze, and compute numbers.
Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations.
Ability to keypunch information into a computer.
Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.
Must be able to travel.
Work is performed in a normal office environment with little or no physical discomfort associated with weather changes.
An associate degree in paralegal studies or related field,
AND
Two years of experience as a paralegal or in a legal office, preferably with exposure to estate and trust administration,
AND
Must have a high level of proficiency with writing, technology, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, electronic filing, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other internet research tools, a thorough understanding of the discovery process relative to ESI collection, processing, and management, and the ability to handle multiple caseloads with competing deadlines is required.
Paralegal Certification from an ABA-accredited school
Valid State Driver's License
Notary Public preferred.
