Job summary

The Salvation Army Potomac Divison seeks a Divisional Paralegal to support a broad range of legal matters, including estate and probate administration, employment-related matters, and contracts.

You will coordinate legal documents, serve as a liaison among leadership, legal counsel, field offices, and external partners, and assist with training staff on legal processes. Office-based role with some travel, full-time.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification and associate degree required; legal studies degree preferred.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible paralegal experience in estate, employment law, or contracts.
  • Strong reading, organization, and deadline-tracking skills; confidentiality and judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support administration of legal documents, estates, trusts, contracts, and litigation files.
  • Conduct legal research, organize case materials, track deadlines, and prepare documents for review.
  • Serve as liaison with counsel, headquarters, field offices, and external partners.
  • Provide training and guidance on legal document processes and reporting requirements.

Join a mission-driven legal team where precision, service, and impact come together.The Salvation Army Potomac Division is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and service-minded Divisional Paralegal to support a broad range of legal matters, including estate and probate administration, employment-related matters, commercial contracts, and legal document coordination. This role serves as a key liaison among Divisional leadership, Territorial Headquarters, legal counsel, field offices, government agencies, and external partners to help ensure legal matters are handled with accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and care.Position DetailsPosition Title: Divisional ParalegalDepartment: LegalLocation: Potomac Divisional HeadquartersReports To: General SecretaryFLSA Status: ExemptSchedule/Hours: Full-timeWork Environment: Office-based role with occasional travel as needed.What You’ll DoCoordinate and support the administration of legal documents, estate and trust matters, employment-related matters, commercial contracts, lawsuits, subpoenas, and other legal files.Conduct legal research, organize case materials, track deadlines, prepare correspondence and documents for review, and maintain accurate legal records.Serve as a professional liaison with legal counsel, Territorial Headquarters, Divisional leadership, field offices, attorneys, fiduciaries, government agencies, and external partners.Support estate and probate administration by coordinating documentation, asset-related information, accountings, communications, and related follow-up.Review commercial contracts, identify key clauses and business terms, document areas of concern, and help ensure appropriate routing and follow-up.Assist with employment matters, including file management, basic legal research, settlement documentation support, mediation preparation, and litigation-related tasks as assigned.Provide training, guidance, and support to field officers and staff regarding legal document processes and reporting requirements.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
