Job summary

Strativia in Washington, DC seeks a Junior Paralegal to support litigation and complaint management under senior staff supervision. You will assist with intake, document processing, research, and drafting of materials throughout the dispute lifecycle.

You will help track deadlines, organize case files, and prepare for meetings and hearings while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all work products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3–5 years of paralegal or related litigation support experience.
  • Experience reviewing pleadings, discovery materials, and case files.
  • Experience conducting legal research and drafting memoranda.
  • Familiarity with case management, document management, or litigation support systems.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently with attorneys and staff.

  • Draft memoranda and litigation-support documents.
  • Monitor deadlines and deliverables; prepare status reports.
  • Assist with meetings, hearings, and discovery-related tasks.
  • Attend meetings/hearings and document outcomes.
  • Ensure confidentiality and timely submissions.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Junior Paralegal provides litigation and complaint-management support by assisting with case intake, document processing, legal research, drafting, case tracking, and preparation of materials throughout the complaint and dispute lifecycle. This position works closely with senior paralegal staff, attorneys, and program personnel to ensure legal documents and case information are complete, accurate, timely, and properly maintained. The Junior Paralegal may also serve as an alternate to the Senior Paralegal when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, review, process, and track complaints, pleadings, discovery materials, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare documents for processing by scanning, Bates stamping, organizing, indexing, and redacting sensitive information as required.
  • Maintain and update complaint and case information in electronic case management and tracking systems.
  • Assist with preparing mandatory document exchanges and coordinating materials for opposing counsel.
  • Organize case files, exhibits, discovery materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct legal and factual research related to complaints, settlements, pleadings, disputes, and other litigation matters.
  • Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, reports, and other litigation-support documents for review.
  • Review case materials to identify missing documentation, deadlines, inconsistencies, and outstanding action items.
  • Assist with preparation for meetings, hearings, conferences, and other litigation-related activities.
  • Attend meetings and hearings as required and assist with documenting outcomes and follow-up actions.
  • Track case milestones, deadlines, complaint status, and deliverables to support timely case progression.
  • Prepare status reports, summaries, case updates, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, case-management processes, and program documentation.
  • Provide research and administrative support related to potential complaint-derived disputes.
  • Serve as an alternate to the Senior Paralegal during periods of absence, as appropriate.
  • Ensure work products are accurate, complete, legally sufficient, and submitted within established deadlines.
  • Protect privileged, confidential, sensitive, and personally identifiable information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of legal and program objectives.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant paralegal, litigation support, legal research, complaint management, or related legal experience.
  • Experience reviewing and processing pleadings, discovery materials, case files, or other legal documentation.
  • Experience conducting legal research and assisting with the preparation of legal memoranda and litigation documents.
  • Familiarity with case management, complaint tracking, document management, or litigation support systems.
  • Experience organizing and maintaining high-volume legal documentation and case records.
  • Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work with minimal rework.
  • Ability to prioritize competing assignments and meet litigation and program deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with electronic legal research and case management tools preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, senior paralegals, and other program personnel.
