Job summary

McAfee & Taft in Tulsa, OK, seeks a paralegal to support multiple attorneys in complex civil litigation, from case assessment through trial and resolution. You will manage projects and ensure timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree in paralegal or legal studies or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of legal experience; 4+ preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office and standard office software.
  • Certificates & Licenses: ABA-approved paralegal certification preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Strong organization, research, confidentiality, and deadlines management.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral English communication.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Paralegal is responsible for supporting multiple attorneys in the Firm and is expected to have a high degree of responsibility for project management and implementation.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Support attorneys throughout all stages of complex civil litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and resolution.
  • Assist with preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Organize, review, categorize, and summarize large volumes of documents and electronically stored information.
  • Assist with document productions, privilege reviews, redactions, confidentiality designations, and production tracking.
  • Prepare discovery databases, privilege logs, document indexes, and other litigation support materials.
  • Work with litigation support professionals and e‑discovery vendors to facilitate efficient document review and production.
  • Obtain, organize, review, and analyze medical records and related healthcare documentation relevant to litigation matters.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate medical chronologies
  • Identify significant medical events, treatment gaps, changes in condition, pre‑existing conditions, subsequent injuries, and other potentially relevant facts.
  • Assist in coordinating medical records with damages analyses and other case valuation materials while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Communicate with medical providers, record custodians, clients, vendors, and other third parties regarding medical record collection and follow‑up as directed.
  • Assist with coordinating expert witnesses and maintaining expert‑related files and materials.
  • Review and organize invoices, expenses, and other case‑related documentation as needed.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and in accordance with firm policies and professional obligations.

Education: Associate’s degree in paralegal or legal studies or other related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of legal experience required, and 4+ years in legal experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office Suite and other office products.

Certificates & Licenses: Paralegal certification from ABA‑approved program is preferred.

Other Requirements: Excellent problem‑solving skills and willingness to conduct research to learn new tasks. Strong organizational skills to maintain work lists, organize documents, and monitor deadlines and filings. Ability to ask questions, clarify issues, and provide project updates as needed.Excellent written and oral communication skills (comprehension & expression). Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style. Detail‑oriented and ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence. Possess sense of initiative and responsibility to manage case load and maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to work in a fast paced, high‑pressured environment and maintain case/trial deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment is in a professional office setting. The majority of activity this role performs will be sedentary work.
