Job summary

Gulf Stream Marine, Inc. in Brownsville, TX, seeks an entry-level Level I (C1) operative to accurately record cargo movement during loading, unloading, stowing, and storage across vessel, terminal, and warehouse environments.

The role supports inventory control, cargo tracking, and documentation, ensuring safety and compliance with standards. Basic math and English literacy are essential, with bilingual skills a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, yard, or stevedoring operations preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow basic instructions.
• Dependable and capable of working independently. Basic math skills for counting and tallying cargo.
• Ability to read and write in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Valid state driver's license (DL) with acceptable driving record.
• TWIC card required in hand.

Responsibilities

• Count, inspect, sort, and record cargo during discharge from vessels, trucks, or railcars.
• Count, inspect, sort, and record cargo during stowage onto vessels, trailers, or into warehouse locations.
• Receive and ship cargo via trucks, railcars, and containers.
• Mark cargo and record dimensions for documentation and handling purposes.
• Maintain written tallies and records of cargo movement and storage.
• Use electronic equipment (e.g., tablets, scanners) to record cargo data and update systems.
• Assist with loading and unloading operations in terminal and warehouse settings.
• Ensure cargo is properly identified and stored in designated locations.
• Perform other clerical and operational duties as assigned.
