Job summary

Gulf Stream Marine, an Enstructure Company, is seeking a Ship Checker to support our terminal and stevedoring operations in Houston, TX. You will monitor, count, verify, and document cargo movements across vessel, warehouse, and trucking operations, ensuring proper handling and accurate records.

In this hands-on role, you will record cargo movement, assist with loading and unloading, and maintain clear tallies using tablets and scanners.

Qualifications

• One-year of customer service experience.
• Excellent written and spoken English (Spanish a plus).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a Driver's License.
• Must have a TWIC.
• Dependable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Count, inspect, sort, identify & record storage location of all cargo discharging (or coming off a vessel).
• Count, inspect, sort, identify & record stow location of all cargo stowed (or being loaded onto a vessel).
• Load / unload trucks.
• Mark & take dimension of cargo.
• Keep written tallies and records.
• Maintain records with the use of electronic equipment (tablets & scanners).

In this hands-on role, you'll play an important part in keeping our terminal and stevedoring operations safe, accurate, and efficient. You'll monitor, count, verify, and document cargo movements across vessel, warehouse, and trucking operations while helping ensure cargo is properly handled, accounted for, and documented throughout the process.

The Ship Checker is responsible for recording cargo movement (discharge, loading and stowage on the vessel and load out and receiving of cargos though the terminal, to and from the customer carrier in a responsible, safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications

Candidate Requirements:

• One-year (1) year of experience in customer service.
• Excellent written & communication in English (Spanish is a plus)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have Driver's License
• Must have a TWIC (Transportation Worker identification Credential)
• Dependable mode of transportation to and from work
• The ability and willingness to work in a team environment
• Must be willing to travel, as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work is 100% outdoors
• Candidate will be exposed to weather conditions like heat, rain & cold on daily basis. And in some occasions will work in closed spaces (warehouse, vessel hatch, etc)
• Capable of walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders up to 100ft high and have fast physical reactions (jump, move)
• Ability to work in a noisy environment
