Job summary

ASM Research in Boston seeks a Junior NOC Network Administrator to support day-to-day operations, monitor servers and core services, troubleshoot common issues, and perform routine maintenance. The role requires US citizenship with SECRET clearance (active within 24 months) and Security+ or DoD 8180 IAT-II, plus a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 0–3 years’ experience.

Documentation and adherence to runbooks are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of junior system administration, NOC support, or similar roles.
• Foundational understanding of user/group management, file permissions, basic networking.
• Training or practical experience with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, backup solutions, and basic virtualization concepts.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to document configurations, changes, incidents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor servers, OS, and core services; review alerts and update tickets by impact.
• Execute standard admin tasks: patching, basic configuration changes, restarts, backups, and user/group management.
• Troubleshoot common issues; escalate beyond runbook guidance.
• Maintain system documentation: inventories, baselines, change records, incident logs.
• Participate in incident response, backup and recovery activities, and security monitoring tasks.
• Collaborate with network and security teams to diagnose issues and validate restoration.
• Support adherence to incident, change, and configuration management processes.
