Job summary

GCI is seeking an entry level Network Engineer I to apply engineering principles across multiple sub-groups within Technology Solutions. The role involves design, development, implementation and ongoing support in a telecom-standard environment, with opportunities to mentor junior staff.

The position emphasizes high availability, security, scalability, and collaboration with project management and engineering teams. Office-based Alaska work with occasional off-site support is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• Minimum of one year experience in the field or related background.
• A combination of relevant work experience and/or education may substitute to meet total years required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the current network and/or systems facilities.
• Maximize performance using network monitoring tools and troubleshoot outages.
• Provide remote site support for off-site personnel and customers.
• Develop and update documentation and support materials.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
