Job summary

THOR Solutions, LLC seeks a Junior-Level Naval Architect to support the USCG Ship Design Team in Washington, DC. The role involves feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, and stability analyses for surface assets and boats.

The ideal candidate will hold a ABET‑accredited degree in naval architecture or related field, with 0–2 years of experience, and familiarity with US federal shipbuilding programs and regulations. Some travel and clearance eligibility may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or related technical/marine discipline from ABET‑accredited program.
• 0–2 years of progressive Naval Architecture experience.
• Familiarity with US federal or commercial shipbuilding programs and related rules is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, and stability analysis.
• Evaluate systems and equipment, develop requirements, and perform hull form, weights, structures, and design studies.
• Develop system documentation and ship specifications, perform structural analysis using ISO/class society standards.
