Job summary

Phoenix Defense LLC is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, and testing of aircraft subsystem models in a simulation environment. Under guidance from senior staff, you will gain foundational systems engineering experience across requirements analysis, model integration, and system architecture support.

The role involves MBSE model development using SysML/UML, interface analysis, and participation throughout the system development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience in systems engineering, software development, modeling and simulation, integration, or testing.
• Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles: requirements analysis, architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, and validation.
• Familiarity with Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) simulation environments.
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts in C++, C#, Java, or Python.
• Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems engineering analysis, design, integration, testing, documentation, and implementation support under senior staff.
• Support integration of aircraft subsystem models into the simulation environment and analyze interfaces and data exchanges.
• Develop and document system architectures, designs, and interface definitions.
• Develop system architecture models using SysML and UML within MBSE tools.
• Support requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, traceability, and verification coverage.
• Participate in the system development lifecycle including verification and validation.
• Assist with creation of integration and test plans, procedures, and test cases.
• Assist with execution of test events and analyze test results and logs.
• Assist root-cause analysis of integration issues with software and model developers.
• Support evaluation of interoperability, performance, and system-level quality attributes.
• Assist with ICDs, architecture products, requirements specs, and other artifacts.
• Support configuration management and engineering change activities.
