Job summary

DLBA Naval Architects, a division of Leidos Gibbs & Cox, seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support US Navy small craft design and testing at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. You will perform mechanical design, analysis, and life-cycle support for non-nuclear vessels under Code 83 guidance.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, solid CAD skills (AutoCAD, Rhino), and hands-on problem-solving ability; shipyard experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
  • Experience solving technical problems from first principles.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate engineering calculations using first principles and plan approaches to challenges.
  • Assist client teams in boat and craft design, applying existing methods and procedures.
  • Collaborate with teammates to develop small craft design solutions.
  • Design propulsion, fuel, ventilation, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform engineering analyses and use standard programs to complete tasks.
  • Provide onsite mechanical engineering service to US Navy CCD (Code 83) at Little Creek-Fort Story.
