Job summary

Leidos Gibbs & Cox seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a client team embedded with NSWCCD Code 83, CCD, providing on-site mechanical design, analysis, and testing for US Navy small craft (< 300 ft).

You will perform first-principles calculations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and deliver lifecycle support across propulsion, fuel, ventilation, and hydraulic systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Active DoD secret security clearance.
• B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years' mechanical engineering experience (non-nuclear).
• Broad knowledge of marine engineering and related technologies.
• Knowledge of specs/regulatory requirements (BS/RINA/LR/ISO/USCG/ABYC).
• Strong time management and ability to work as an independent contributor.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and detailed engineering calculations from first principles.
• Assist client teams in design of small craft and provide engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with teammates to develop design solutions for US Navy small craft.
• Complete engineering assignments accurately and on time using standard programs.
• Provide onsite mechanical engineering service to Navy CCD at Little Creek/Fort Story.
• Design propulsion, fuel, ventilation, and hydraulic systems.
